New B&S Symphonie with pistons for sale

Post by TheBerlinerTuba »

Posting for a colleague in Germany:

For Sale
A unique mid-1980s B&S Symphonie F Tuba in yellow brass with a piston valve block and 1 rotary valve.

Bell Diameter 42cm
Height 95.5cm
4 lightweight Piston Valves 0.750in/19.50mm bore
1 Rotary Valve 0.827in/21.00mm bore
Handmade Symphonie Bell and Body

The tuba was kept as a prototype and is thus in brand-new condition. As far as I am aware, this is the only existing model of a B&S Symphonie F-Tuba with piston valves. It plays very open and flexible, similar to the rotary Symphonie.

The tuba can be sold as is for 8000€ or polished and lacquered for 9500€. Shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer. The tuba can be tested in Markneukirchen, Germany. Please feel free to get in touch for more information or photos.

If I only I was in Germany to check that out... or to have the €8000 plus shipping to me... it's always nice to dream.

Hope this gets purchased by someone that will have the opportunity to put some miles on it! Would love to hear it with a sumphony.

It would be a crime to polish and lacquer it. This is a BEAUTIFUL tuba. I'm sure it plays beautifully too.

Sharp eye. I noticed that too.

Sigh, sorry guys, lousy photo quality. The slides are fine. I'll be in Markneukirchen later in the month and if the tuba is still for sale, I'll post some new photos.
