Caution, using Photobucket
Just a heads up to those who may not know...
If you use PhotoBucket to host images, be sure to set your folders to 'private' not 'public'. Directly linked images on forums still display just fine. If your folders are public, someone can see your whole folder just by clicking on a shared image. One exception might be if you're trying to sell a tuba and have all those tuba pics located in the same folder, THEN having that particular folder marked public is necessary.
I happened to click on an image today and got to see a bunch of family pictures.

Re: Cautions, using Photobucket
Also, Photobucket isn't very mobile friendly. Ads totally take over and make sure it's impossible to see the images, just the ads. Imgur is better.

I like to post comments like "clean up your room!!"

I enjoy the promoted links at the bottom of photobucket pages that turn your picture into a mug or a calendar. Of COURSE I want this closeup of crapped-out third valve tubing on my wall calendar!

Re: Caution, using Photobucket
I'm done with Photobucket. It's gotten to the point where I can't even use the site anymore, due to the pop-ups and "virus alerts".
Any suggestions out there for a "user friendly" photo sharing site?

Well, I use smugmug, but that isn't free. I wonder if "instagram" would work?
Thanks for moving away from photobucket, though! I find it pretty annoying just to look at pictures hosted there.

I looked at imgur, but I found it a little difficult to navigate.
Then again, it may just be me and my technologocally-challenged brain standing in the way....

Hey, I've got an idea - I'm gonna ask if they make a tone bridge for compyooters, too...bloke wrote:- I click de green box.roweenie wrote:I looked at imgur, but I found it a little difficult to navigate.

- I give it de file.
- It uploads de file.
- I right-click de picture and get de web address of de picture.
- I paste de web address in de tubenet.
- I put de IMG thingies around de web address.
- I look at de picture.
- I get a warning from de tubenet monitor.
I'm sure it will be of immense help....

Re: Caution, using Photobucket
Imgur is a little confusing because it's a quasi social media, not just a photo hosting site. But if you see a picture on Tubenet that actually works, and isn't tiny, it's from Imgur.
You might have to use "Post" instead of an obvious "Upload Pics" button.
There is a view in Imgur where you pick your size (always "large thumbnail" for Tubenet), and it spits out the code to imbed the pic in any sort of messageboard/html/website just by pasting.
