FS: Conn 36K CC Sousaphone -- SOLD

Post by Bill Troiano »

For sale is my Conn 36K fiberglass CC sousaphone that Dan Schultz designed and cut down for me 3 years ago. With playing traditional jazz being my main $$$$ gig around here, it was my most used instrument. It is a little funky, but it's served me very well over the past 3 years. It is a 3 valve instrument, but only weighing 15 lbs. G on the first line is flat. Sometimes, I play it 1 & 3. Eb and D just below the staff are sharp and I have to lip them down if I sit on those notes. Everyone I've played it for says it sounds fine. It’s great to knock around with playing dixieland or other fun popular stuff.

Here’s a link of me playing it. You can hear the sousaphone better if you use headphones.

I’m asking $1400. for this rare horn. The only reason I’m selling it is because Lee Stofer just made me a Jupiter CC sousaphone that plays more like a large tuba, although it’s a bit heavier than the Conn. I pasted a few pictures of the Conn below. I can send more if anyone is interested. Buyer would pay shipping costs. Thanks! That's nice playing, Bill. Very clean articulation and intonation. I like the way you command a steady tempo for the entire group with an ever-so- slight lead on the beat.
