Whenever someone says "this is the best horn I've ever played" and then they don't say "I can't keep it" I can't help but ask "If it's the best horn you've ever played why are you selling/trading it?"

I'll buff and lacquer that brand-new bell for you...in exchange for worthless federal reserve notes

...If you really want to, you can send the tuba (and the original bell) up to Sherry in Indiana to copy the original engraving on to the new bell first.
If I spend the money/time to get that bell engraved, I'm gonna do it up like a 20's era American tuba. Like one of those naked lady Conns, or a complicated floral design. It would be a travesty on a German tuba!

I kind of like buying tubas with dents but good valve sets. Or lots of tarnish. With a little repair bill or elbow grease you can have a nice reasonably priced horn.

It's been a few months since the last post but here's one I've seen an alarming amount of times:
Putting the wrong instrument in the details. Example:
I was looking at a post about a beat up miraphone 186-4u and in the description it said: This instrument is not ready for highschool use without extensive repair. Clarinet is sold as is.

And this was from a repair shop. I know it's a victim of copy and paste but it's just a matter of detail. If you are trying to sell an item you are proficient in you should at least get the type right.
I've seen numerous adds with tubas listed as trumpets and even trombones as well. If you can't get the simple facts right what else is wrong with the post? (It also said that it was a great player but wasn't able to be played do to repair issues)

But i do think I know their problem. That clarinet only has 4 keys! where did the rest go??

I think of it as if some one were selling a red sports car and kept saying "this truck is in great shape..." wouldn't it throw the seller off a bit?

One thing I am leery of is the word "VINTAGE" listed in the description....usually means trashed.
