Re: FS: Gnagey 6/4 BBb (Martin/King/Conn)
I was the original owner. The horn was first purchased from Sam Gnagey in the fall of '04. He originally intended to cut it to CC, but it was way too good as a BBb to risk losing it in the conversion. I played ONE note before asking him how much he wanted for it. It will resonate in rooms that don't resonate. I can tell you I had it at a couple auditions where people half smirked when they first saw it, but as soon as they heard it, it was all, "So, uh...what is that?" "Where'd you get that?" "Is he making another one?" "What kind of mouthpiece are you using on that?" I had entire string sections wave their bows in the air at a rehearsal where I was subbing after the conductor said, "I think you've got a fan club." It's a helluva horn. Second owner called it Sputnik. I called it Ugly Betty. Doesn't matter what you call it. The horn will speak for itself. If you search old posts, circa 2012, you might find a pic of it next to a Thor, for reference.

The picture of this horn next to the Thor that you might find is somehow very distorted. A Thor is 38.8 inches tall. The horn for sale is 39 inches tall. In the picture it looks like the horn for sale is at least 6 inches taller than the Thor. It fits into a Cronkite gigbag made for a Neptune/PT-7, the same bag that fits a BMB 6/4 nicely. It is not an extraordinarily huge 6/4.Mitch wrote:you might find a pic of it next to a Thor, for reference.
That being said, it is a very nice playing instrument.

If there's interest, I can bring it with me to SWRTEC in Tucson. Without interest, I probably won't.

Price reduction bump. A wonderful horn is collecting dust, waiting for its new owner.

Could you post a picture of it next to your 764?

Sorry! It's been a little chaotic lately and I finally stood the horns side-by-side this week.
