Looking for Bohland & Fuchs

Post by Tigerreydelaselva »

Hello to all.
I'm looking for an Original Bohland & Fuchs 5/4 BBb, the same model used Walter Hilgers, from which he developed the model of MW 197, 114.cm tall 21.5 mm bore and a 46 cm conical bell. Does anyone know if its possible find any like this. How much would it cost...and where can i find one...? Thanks...

Yep, what tuben said. An 'original' is essentially unavailable anywhere.

The way to get one is to buy a MW 197 by special order. I don't know exactly what that would cost but I would not be surprised at all to receive a price quote of over $10,000 USD and that is probably on the low side.

I'd guess $15,000+.

 Likely.

It would take a call into a dealer to know for sure - i.e., homework for a real potential buyer, not me.

For a 197:

I have a kaiser tuba that looks a bit like the Bohland & Fuchs you mention, but it's not for sale, awaiting restoration...
There's a picture of Walter Hilgers and his tuba(s) in this thread:
