SOLD

Post by ajmtuba »

For sale is my B&H Imperial 3+1 compensating E flat tuba. 15" bell, serial number dates it to the 1930's. I purchased the horn this past June, and between the birth of our second daughter and some changes in my work & playing schedules, the horn has sat. It comes with a serviceable hard case and, due to having the smaller lead pipe, a Dennis Wick 5 mouthpiece. The horn does need a bath, and the valves need aligned. Shipping via Greyhound, or I am willing to drive into 6 hours from Cleveland with gas/toll money instead.

Asking $1400 o.b.o plus greyhound shipping. Prefer cash or PayPal.
Please email me at tubawookie AT gmail DOT com with any questions

Not 100% sure but considering it's length I don't believe it is.

Tubas around this time were built in High Pitch in the UK so the long legs lower the pitch to modern.
I've seen quite a lot of Yorks with a loop in the main slide which can be used or not allowing high or low pitch from the period.
Unfortunately modern pitch frequently sits between these two options but that's another matter...

These old Boosey's are often great if the valves are solid.

BUMP! I would like to move the horn sooner rather than later. Make an offer if interested, any reasonable offer will be considered!

These came with low and high pitch slides... the high was too high, and the low was too low. IIRC, this one was just right.

I recently bought one of these horns and it has been an absolute pleasure to play. The tone is beautiful and has a real clarity to it. Your horn looks to be in great shape and 1500$ is great price for such a great horn. Good luck with your sale!
