Ev Gilmore - Dallas Symphony Orchestra

Post by Alex C »

I am pleased to announce the publication of a Wikipedia page for the late Ev Gilmore, longtime principal tuba of the Dallas Symphony. I was surprised to find nothing to acknowledge Ev's 30 year tenure (1965-1995) with the orchestra and his unique contributions to musicians. I had help from Don Little and Richard Murrow, both dear friends of Ev's, and we put together this small tribute for Ev. We are still looking for photographs which properly commemorate Ev but the text is there.

Here it is.

Alex, there seems to be a copyright issue, which I think means that some text on the page is too similar to text quoted in articles or otherwise comparable by internet search, without specific attribution. If you are one of the authors, you'll need to do something about that.

It's nice to see something about Ev online. I met him briefly at the ITEC in Austin (1986?) and again right after he retired, when Lee came up from San Antonio to play Number 2 Tuba with Matt, and they met with Ev after the concert about the time I was chatting with them. Very nice man, and influential as a person as well as tuba player.

Thanks but they send a message when there is a copyright issue. I'm not doing anything that looks like work to fix it until after Thanksgiving. It's against my religion.

Alex, I've attached a screen shot. Email or no, it says what it says.

I guess you didn't understand, Rick. Wikipedia sends an email when they have concerns. I got an email. I thought saying, "Thanks but they send a message when there is a copyright issue. I'm not doing anything that looks like work to fix it until after Thanksgiving." Was sufficient to get the message across but communication is difficult under the best of circumstances.

Okay, my bad. I thought you meant you hadn't received an email.
