FS: G&W Baer 'original' CC in titanium (Euro) - SOLD

Post by barry grrr-ero »

I'm parting with a Giddings & Webster "Alan Baer" model CC (Original, not MMIV) in titanium with a Euro shank. These babies sell for $315 new, so I'm asking $130 plus $5 for shipping. I suck when it comes to uploading (downloading?) digital photos, but I'll try to get one on here in the next few days.

Because titanium is such a hard material, there are ZERO scratches or dents on this mouthpiece. There's no corrosion of any kind. I'll be honest about why I'm selling it : the MMIV version of the Baer works better for me on my rotary Neptune (stainless steel). The 'original' has a more rounded rim, which is great for endurance. Titanium lends a darker tone quality than stainless steel, but the differences aren't huge. On a different horn, I may prefer the Original to the MMIV.

I have three mouthpieces that work well on this tuba: a 3-piece Sellmansberger "Blokepiece" (gorgeous sound that blends well with BBb tubas); a Kanstul Geib (love the way it feels and plays), and this Baer MMIV - possibly the best compromise of the three. All Euroshank.

For clarification, is this the original for C or F tuba?

I've always wanted to try the titanium mouthpieces. However, I'm 100% certain that the original rim does NOT work for me. Bummer!
