Publishers of Pep-band arrangements ?

Post by tubeast »

Hi,

I´m looking for publisher´s websites to browse and eventually order R&B, Funk, Disco classics arranged for Pep-Band (that is, community band, small landscape format to use on standing gigs).
This literature seems rather scarce on German publishers´ sites. So I figured over the pond, with a tradition of school´s pep bands at games, there might be a larger choice.

Examples:
James Brown "Livin´in America"
Chic "Le Freak"
Rufus / Chaka Khan "Ain´t Nobody"
Diana Ross "Upside Down", "I´m Coming Out"
Michael Jackson "Love Never Felt So Good"
Stevie Wonder "Higher Ground"

Of course I´m open to further suggestions of individual titles, but would prefer hints at publishers´ sites, really.
The arrangements may well take some woodshedding prior to performance, but should not exceed advanced amateur level.

Good question.

In the 70s our band director had to score them himself.

Try JW Pepper. They do a lot of Hal Leonard stuff.

+1 for jwpepper.com

Also, you might have better luck searching for marching band music, than pep band.

Pep band charts are generally short, so they can be played during timeouts.
Marching band arrangements for parades are longer.
Marching band arrangements for field competitions are way longer.

You want the Combo Blasters sets of Pep Band books. There are at least three sets that I am aware of.

J. W. Pepper and Amazon should have them.
