Selling for a friend but please email me with any questions. It's the 4 valvle version. In beautiful shape. I'd almost picked it up myself, but I have too many weird toys on the shelf already. I forgot about posting pics here and don't have a sharing site set up yet, so please email me for any photos for now and I'll try to fix that later tonight. He has about a grand in to it so any reasonable offer around there would be fair game. I'll be headed to D.C. for the TUSAB tuba conference in a few weeks and would be happy to bring it along for any interested folks if it hasn't sold by then. Thanks!

Before I get too many more emails, this is the "French c tuba" size horn. Looks like a euphonium w with 4 top action pistons. I'll try to set up the photo site tonight for sure. Thanks!!

Is it "French system"(3rd valve lowering 2 steps,not 1,5)?

This is intriguing, even appealing, perhaps. Being able to play in that register with a C instrument is attractive.
What would you say about the instrument if we knew what to ask? Intonation? What else?

Re: Mahillon 4 valve C bass tuba
It is a very cool and interesting horn. I can't honestly speak to the intonation all that well. My high chops are nowhere near where they used to be when I played all the time, and they weren't that great back then either! Hehe. It is fun to honk around with different tuba mouthpieces in its low register. I have no idea what mouthpiece it was designed to take, but I'd imagine if you messed around with mouthpieces long enough you'd find a great match and have a very cool and unique horn. If anyone is interested and headed to TUSAB for the conference in two weeks I'd be happy to bring it along.

And, in general, Mahillons were built very well and solid.
