Meinl Weston 2165 $6500 sold!
Hi All
Have a 2165 for sale. Some scratches and a couple dents, but none that big or deep. Has tone ring, yet bell still rings and does not seem dead at all. Small valves that feel way better than any "big valve" MW I have tried. Surprisingly good intonation for the size. For me the horn plays a little flat in general (I have had this problem on a couple cc tubas and had to have the main slide cut) - there also is a shorter lead pipe I have that looks like would go on very easily and remedy that pitch issue (if you have the same one - a colleague played it and had to have the main slide out a bit so probably more just the way I play). Huge sound, yet not an "air hog" - speaks easily and efficiently with quick response. I find I can do more on a breath with this horn than some smaller horns I have had. Has a brand new cronkite bag. Located in Chicago. If needs to be shipped buyer will have to cover shipping costs.
Pics to come soon, or send me your email address and I can send them that way more quickly... $6,500
Reason(s) for selling: Too many cc tubas here, and would prefer the funds over having the tuba here at this point...

Unsolicited Bump for Matt and for this particular 2165! I had the opportunity to give this horn a try for a couple days and I thoroughly enjoy it. The tone color is rich and velvety all the while having plenty of core. It's very easy to play. Intonation is solid (I didn't have any issues with the current leadpipe). Just like Matt mentioned, the valves are incredibly smooth, which adds to the joy of playing this tuba. Somebody is going to be very happy!
Cheers,
Joe Ready
