It's like a real corny pun; the more you groan, the better it is. That arrangement is so bad and corny that it's good.

It has sort of a Castrati-Lloyd Webber-Klezmer kind of thing going on.

These people are quite well known in German speaking countries. They perform in a style that was popular in the pre-WWII German movie-era. The singer tries (and, to my opinion, succeeds in) imitating that squawking sound effect that you hear on old shellack records and real old copies of movies from that time.
They also released a CD named "Tanz-Gala" in cooperation with an association of German professional dancing teachers. That features classical ballroom literature and is to be taken more seriously.
