Photobucket terms of use agreement

Post by Rick F »

Photobucket recently changed there terms of use agreement. They will no longer allow "3rd party image hosting" without the user paying a subscription fee of $399 per year! Sounds to me like their last-ditch effort before going out of business.

I've used this svc for very a long time as it saves storage space on various forums. I guess I'll be looking for another image hosting service.

May you turn up a better alternative. I hate to visit the photobucket site, for users who don't know how or are for some reason unwilling to "3rd party" host their images, and if that's now going to be everyone, I'm for pushing alternatives.

Yep, it's true. The only way to get photobucket to serve as your image host is to buy the $399/yr. membership.

Details here: http://photobucket.com/terms

Photobucket has been, I think, getting worse and worse for some time now. A while back - maybe a year ago - I pulled ALL of my photos off photobucket. I don't really have them hosting many photos around the web, so that aspect wasn't a huge issue, rather I was really using the site to store my stuff. I started to think that they were either going to lock down accounts (and charge users to access their stuff) or that the whole thing would go under, so I pulled all of my stuff out while I could. I encourage anyone else to get out while they still can.

Where to host photos now remains to be determined as far as I'm concerned.

Seems like it still works for me? Or am only *I* seeing a picture of my tuba here?

Ok, thanks guys.

Imgur seems to work ok, but there is just a ton of other "stuff" you will see in the sidebar or by scrolling down. There is no filter, so there is some bad and offensive content there.

Wonder if there is a way to get a share link directly from onedrive?

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Okay, I've just edited my profile so you see that little picture of Lake Worth under my posts again. At the suggestion of someone on another forum, I'm just trying out " HostThenPost.org " (without quotes). Not sure this is the answer since it looks like you can't organize pics into folders. ALSO - you access your uploads based on IP address (not an account with a password) so you can only access your uploads with the device you uploaded them from. They do automatically generate links to post full-size images, thumbnail images, HTML, and link to the image without posting the image. I may check out "Imgur" though.

It's all still there, you just have view it from the Photobucket website. Try right clicking on the image
They essentially kneecapped every forum with even a single Photobucket link without any warning.

TinyPic is owned by Photobucket so not sure how long their hosting will work.

Is that the peashooter, or the mid-size Conn?

Yeah this PB snafu has been a real PITA! After downloading all my photos then uploading them to another host, I spent a couple of days trying to track down posts where I shared images using PB and then update it with imgur link. I started using PB 12 years ago, Mar 2005.

PB's policy change has made the news:
