Bundy - Selmer compact Bb tuba

Post by JDijkstra »

Hello to all of you, new member here.
I am looking for a small Bb tuba and found this tuba for sale:

Information about this tuba is hard to find, could be a good candidate for experiments with pick ups and
microphones. Who knows these instruments?

Thanks!

That's an old Besson 2-20, 682, or 787. Same horn different model numbers depending when it was made. They play well but tip over easily when standing on the tiny 13" bell

One of those tiny Bundy BBb tubas was donated to my old middle school after it was pulled up from the bottom of a lake. It was cleaned up and turned out to be a really good player. The smaller kids loved it!

Thanks, I'll try to win the auction for a reasonable price.

Welcome, Dijkstra, to the board. A Fryslander is always extra welcome!
I had one of those and it played very well as long as you didn't force it to do what it couldn't do. :D

Bought the small tuba, case and (not original) mouthpiece included.
The small Bessons were not cheap; who knows the selling price of the Bundy/Selmer?
I will bring it to a shop for cleaning (another 100 euro's) and ask them to estimate (hope this is correct...)
the current value.

Two new pictures, my "new" tuba (arrived yesterday) and the only picture I can find of a similar instrument, an old bundy.
Lots of small Bessons on the internet. Euro's well spent!
Came with a mirafone 4C mouthpiece and a decent looking case. The step from a small Dennis Wick mouthpiece to the 4C is to big, I'll try to find something smaller and the case will be replaced with a gigbag, hoping to find one that fits.

The previous owners have taken good care of the small tuba, it looks great!
