Modified W. Nirschl BBb tuba SOLD
This "Frankentuba" is in Springfield, MA. It looks and plays great. The bugle is a W. Nirschl J-700, which is a very nice bugle. I replaced the valves, leadpipe and the main tuning slide with mostly King stuff. The main slide is from a J. W. York and Sons part, but the large leg is new Mirafone tubing. I put a small ring on the underside of the first slide, so a band could be attached and wrapped around the brace below if desired. This tuba comes with a W. Nirschl "MTS style" (not MTS) hard case.
It has some scratches on the back of the bell stack from where a previous owner had metal shirt buttons, or a zipper or something. The scratches go through the lacquer, and are unsightly, but they aren't gouges in the metal. I will consider trades in part, but don't really want an outright trade for something nice. I am selling it primarily to raise the much needed funds to properly fix, hot rod and customize my 6/4.

Tabor has built 1 horn for me and modified another, if I was in the market for a GOOD BBb tuba, I would jump on this horn. He does an amazing job on these.

A review:
I played this horn this weekend. What a sound!
Tabor's work gets better all the time, and he makes small tweaks that improve response and sound quality.
This is a great all around BBb tuba for any situation, college or pro! I highly recommend it.
Best Regards,
Frank

Thanks for the review, Frank. It was nice to get to hear it out from under the bell.
