Here's the beginning of a new 'Frankentuba'. This could easily take a year or so to complete.

Not sure. But... I'm shooting for a five-rotor tuba with a 'slant-rotor' configuration. There will be two main tuning slides... one on the bottom in the traditional location and one on the top for 'tune on the fly' option. Don't have the open bugle yet but am keeping my eye out for a large-ish American or German donor tuba... a la pre-Chinese Nirschle, Boem & Meinl, etc.
