Time For A Phone Upgrade

Post by Dan Schultz »

I've been on my LG-E980 phone for several years and I'm thinking about getting new phones for me and Terri. I've pretty much zero'd in on either a Samsung 7 or 8. The cost of the 9 seems pretty stupid.

The 7 is about $200 or so cheaper that the 8 but the technology is also a year older.

Anyone have experience with both the 7 and 8?

My parents both have a 8, and its reallly cool. If you're looking for just calling and stuff, 7 is the way to go. HOWEVER, if you plan on using it daily for work, surfing, or watching videos, then 8 is good for that. Either way, they're both good choices.
I would put a good signature here, but i dont have one, so this will make do.

Is battery on the newer phones servicable at all?

I bought a J7 pro, which is an international phone model, so it is WAY cheaper. I think I paid about 200 or 250.

Only drawbacks are that there is no US warranty (which is basically nothing anyway) and the phone language was set to Thai when I got it.

Otherwise, it's great and a whole lot cheaper than other phones.

+1 (but mine's a Note 3)

(I also have a "stand-alone" charger and 3 spare batteries)

Why dial??

Just pick up the phone and ask the operator to put you thru to "Junior!!"

I am required to have a landline, as I work for the local telecommunications company.

OK.... it's done. Terri and I picked up a pair of Samsung Galaxy 7 phones yesterday afternoon. So far so good. The technology is two generations old but we're not into gaming or movies and only use our mobile phones for calls, messages, web surfing, and taking pictures.

My wife and I both have Samsung J3's. They have all the bells and whistles that we need.
I love mine, too - I'm gonna keep it going for as long as I can......
