With a true blizzard raging outside (in April) I am taking the time to work on my sight reading and continuing to polish my helicon. I might even get it finished today.

I enjoy playing circus music and have been a member of 'Windjammers Unlimited' for many years. Terri and I do two 'Windjammers' meets a year where we play circus music almost non-stop for four days and participate in bands at live circuses. I've never known the real difference between a 'circus' and a 'carnival' until this past January when I played a live circus in Gibsonton, Florida... home of the International Showman's Association. The Showfolks Club in Sarasota, Florida is the home of the circus performers and the Showman's Association in Gibsonton, Florida is the home of the carnival folks.

Considerable overlap with that picture and "community college". The pay for part time faculty is miserable; we probably get a good deal more than we pay for, but of course not consistently. Most of the curriculum in trades is there. Unfortunately, though, it's also possible to become exposed to ideas at community colleges, so still falls short of ideal, eh?

When we were young we "kid proofed" our house. Plastic thingies in the electric plugs, special latched on the cabinets, breakable things out of reach, etc. Well, this coming weekend we are having a large group over from our church. Most are in their 70's and older. So, we are taking up the throw rugs, have installed railings on the outside steps, made sure there are lot of chairs and wide hallways, white glove cleaning everywhere (you know there will be one in the crowd), etc. I guess you call that "old folks proofing". What went around goes around again (don't throw out that old tie).
