Re: North Jersey CL: King [12|23]40“This tuba got my son into a top music conservatory. ”
I’m not saying he didn’t, but a three valve king isn’t exactly what I’d imagine a kid using to audition for a conservatory. Dvorak probably wrote the the fourteen notes in New World Symphony to get his tuba friends a gig.
Re: North Jersey CL: King [12|23]40
Jim Self seems to have done just fine. ![]() I know, it wasn't a conservatory, but it was a top military band... I'm just hassling you and agree with you for the most part. It just that as I read it, Mr. Self's example popped into my head immediately. Some old Yorks, Martins and maybe a rotary King...
Re: North Jersey CL: King [12|23]40I play next to a high school senior in a community band who sounds like he could get into a conservatory just fine on his upright 3 valve yamaha.

Re: North Jersey CL: King [12|23]40To each their own. I find it weird to be posting it on CL ad though.

Re: North Jersey CL: King [12|23]401240 and someone with any chops should be able to impress with one of these.
Perhaps the judges were listening for musical (as opposed to financial) ability. American sailboats, airplanes, banjos, guitars and flutes ...
Italian motorcycles and cars ... German cameras and tubas ... Life is Good.
Re: North Jersey CL: King [12|23]40
I never doubted the person. Honestly I’m more just curious why the factoid was in the ad. Dvorak probably wrote the the fourteen notes in New World Symphony to get his tuba friends a gig.
