Re: music=grades?
Congrats on a successful school term!
1) It may be a tad of a faux pas to publicly post educators' names. Scribbling/blurring out is generally a good way to go, and always err on the side of privacy/caution.
2) Did you mean "coincidence?"

There is an expression, as well as a truism that is frequently over looked; "Correlation does not equal causation."TheTuba wrote:

I disagree with this. Will explain why in a different thread under "General Chatter."="fenne1c It may be a tad of a faux pas to publicly post educators' names. Scribbling/blurring out is generally a good way to go, and always err on the side of privacy/caution.

Blah, blah, blah...
The point is, as many in the music education industry proclaim, does practice or the participation in orchestra and band make Johnny a better student?

Re: music=grades?
Doesn't imply that at all. The pressure for scholastic achievement, for many families these days, has become intense enough that other priorities are displaced. The hope here is naturally for a win/win scenario where it turns out that a balanced life actually helps, and particularly that the balance may include the arts. If it helps, we could probably churn out a bunch of rubbish about the right cerebral hemisphere and its role in the cognitive process, but that could go south pretty quick - what if it led to a lot of enthusiasm for improvisatory music, like that jazz stuff that has led so many promising musicians into the gutter?

PE is only for the credit.the elephant wrote:PE *and* band, in Texas??? That is news to me. Things change, I guess.
Also, in JH, it goes from 7th-9th, not like other schools. Next year it's high school band with 3 tri's
