LOUD Mouthpieces by Joe Murphy

Post by THE TUBA »

Has anyone heard of the new mouthpiece brand LOUD Mouthpieces? They are made of stainless steel and all feature screw rims. The company started April 14, 2005, so the company is brand new. The mouthpieces are endorsed by the Spirit of JSU low brass, Winston Morris, and two orchestral tuba players. They are designed to make you play louder. Has anyone tried one of these?

I've got an LM-25 euph piece that I've been trying out for about two or three weeks now. It's a really nice mouthpiece, and was smaller than I thought it'd be, but it works very well. A tubist friend of mine mentioned that it might make a great mouthpiece for doublers as well.

As far as the tuba mouthpieces go, I've got a MJT E-C, which is exactly what Joe plays on his Eb to my knowledge. As far as I know, it's the mouthpiece that spawned the whole LOUD thing. I use it on my Besson 983 and love it. Just the right size and shape for all around playing.

Endorsed by . . . My favorite pet peeve :)
You would expect Winston Morris to endorse Joe's mouthpieces because Joe was a student of Winston's.
Best bet is for you to try out a mouthpiece and decide for yourself.

Mudd (still baffled by the Canadian Brass endorsing Yamaha, then Getzen, then ? It is all a big steaming crock of !@#%@!)
