Box of mouthpieces

Post by MaryAnn »

I'm about ready to just take them to the metal recycler. I know what works for me and what doesn't, and I have zero motivation to try to ship / sell those that don't. Most are weirdos anyway. So how much would a person get for a tuba mouthpiece at a metal recycler? I don't even want to put in the effort to drive there. Maybe Salvation Army is the answer, since I'm going to have a pretty large pile for them to pick up, of other stuff, in a while.

The Sally Anne might be the answer. Metal scrap doesn't pay a lot these days. Maybe give them to an art school with the proviso that they weld together a sculpture out of them?

Could be a workable idea, the art school thing.

That's less work than just posting it here, for a nominal fee? Mystery box, you get what you get?

If any of the mouthpieces are usable, give them to the local HS band director.

This. Don't scrap them. I do, however, think it would be interesting to know what you are getting rid of............

I might do that with some instruments that I haven't been able to sell before I move to VA. I don't know where Chantilly is but VA is nowhere near as big as AZ.

I cannot give you a receipt for your taxes, though. Anything that works would be great. Anything that no longer works you can give to me and I will fix it and pass it along to my friend who directs this outstanding group of kids. Hopefully you will find some other way to pass this stuff along, but if not, PM me and I can see if I can meet you along your path on the correct day. (I might not, so like I said, I am sort of a backup plan for you, MA.)
Elephant - sure you can!!! All you need is have someone at the school, as a principal or band director, sign a note on the school's letterhead thanking Maryann for the donation of (fill in the blank) and send it to her. I have done this in my area. The band directors are more than happy to do this to receive the donations.
