Wade, you are definitely the most [REDACTED} person I know. While not [REDACTED] on Tubenet, I am totally [REDACTED] on Facebook because it does not feel safe (enough) to me to be "myself" there.....and some of ya'll have actually talked to me there not knowing 'twas liddle pipsqueak moi you were yakking at. Ha.

I do photography and have a peeve. Not of elephantine proportions but peevish none the less. On very expensive cameras and lenses ($1000+) people carve their SSN or driver's license number or.. onto said camera or lenses and do it in most crude fashion with an "engraver". The camera or lens already has an identification number on it- the serial number. If the number is filed off/altered, it's hot. Easy. Instead, they take a usually lovely piece of equipment and turn it ugly "for identification". I've been offered gear which has been defiled in this manner for a substantial amount less than market but always turned it down. Why? I don't want anyone to know I'm an idiot.pete edwards wrote:i grind off the numbers on all my instruments. it makes them easier to identify. "that's a tuba, that's a trombone...etc"

I redact many of the partials in my overtone series.
Is that the same thing?

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Nope. That is beautiful and what is missing in many of the musical instruments of today.bloke wrote:

If a "engraver" was taken to the horn and "Dis iz Bloke's. Mitts off" was crudely engraved to "keep it from being stolen", I would say that, yes, it was stupid crap and was defiling a beautiful instrument.
