Conn Eb circa 1915 front actionI wish I was a bit closer

Re: Conn Eb circa 1915 front actionYeah, I asked if he was willing to ship, but he said he's hoping for someone closer. But I think my wants/needs have evolved for something more specific now.
It's a pretty horn, and a good price.
Re: Conn Eb circa 1915 front actionIt's hard to tell from the pictures if it's a "standard" or a "giant".....
Re: Conn Eb circa 1915 front actionHi guys, this is my horn. I haven’t posted it here because I’d really prefer not to ship it (I just hate shipping tubas), but I haven’t had many bites locally. Someone did come by to play it and said it wasn’t really what he was looking for, but that he felt like the valves were in nice shape, but it definitely has a leak somewhere (in my opinion, the notes involving the first valve sound very “leaky” so it’s probably along there somewhere). I’m not a tuba mechanic so I don’t know where the leak is and would just prefer to sell it locally to someone that can check it out prior to purchase and be happy with it.
That being said, if someone wants to take a chance on it, it does have a hard case and I could pack that full of packing peanuts and/or blankets and put it on a bus. $500 is my bottom line on it, I already reduced the price from $600 because I wasn’t getting bites on it. Miraphone 191 5v BBb

I think if there were a scale reference in one of the photos, it would look "puny". Normal bass tuba size, anyway. Looks like a million bucks, and seems fair to say the seller isn't trying to pull one over on you. All comes down to how hard it would be to fix what may have been the manufacturing defect that kept this old girl out of the action in her day.
Re: Conn Eb circa 1915 front actionYes, definitely not a giant.

What is the bell diameter and the horn's length, please? Some old Yorks, Martins and maybe a rotary King...

Re: Conn Eb circa 1915 front actionSomeone else asked about shipping cost. I have the box it came in and could ship for $100 in the lower 48. If it’s less than that amount I’ll refund any overage; if it’s more than that, I’ll cover the difference.

Re: Conn Eb circa 1915 front action
I'd suggest using some black electrical tape and cover all the joints in the first valve tubing. If you cover all those potential leak spots, and it still sounds like it is leaking you then likely have a issue with the valve itself. Another way of finding leaks is to put the horn in a bathtub and look for air bubbles. Sometimes I will even blow into the horn when it is submerged in water to see the air bubbles better.
