I saw that here once....generally a very fine conductor, following soloists well, and somehow he took off like a scared rabbit. The soloist was a new trumpet player in the regional orchestra. Could not play the already fast piece at the rate the conductor took it, but tried anyway. I'm not sure what would have happened had he just slowed it down, whether he would have lost the conductor or not. But he was clearly displeased afterwards because he screwed it up and it wasn't his fault.
