Re: Gene Pokorny to open Wessex New Chicago showroom!
Wessex has arranged a special corporate rate at the full-featured Holiday Inn Chicago-West in Itasca. The hotel is only 5 minutes from the showroom via its free shuttle or by your own car. Call (630) 773-2340 and mention the special Wessex Tubas rate when you make a reservation. Rooms will fill up fast!
Although there will be some snack food served at the event, there are some fine restaurants in the immediate area.

Re: Gene Pokorny to open Wessex New Chicago showroom!
I was fortunately able to attend this great event. It is always a pleasure to talk with fellow tuba player and Wessex founder Jonathan Hodgetts. Meeting and talking with Chuck Nickels was an added bonus - what a knowledgeable guy and of course a fellow tuba player. Of course Steve Marcus was about as was Leanne and other Wessex employees.
Gene Pokorny was awesome. Going in I did not realize the extent to which he would lead a workshop. Awesome indeed! A try learning experience provided by one of the best!
Gene really nailed it when he expressed appreciation for ALL companies working to make tubas that play better - on this particular day Wessex in the spotlight.
Jonathan deserves much credit for having the nerve to take the steps to see his dream of tuba manufacturing come true and then to persevere to ensure all facets of the tuba production process continue to improve - from production to tone quality and to innovation with new tuba models. It can’t happen over night, but the evidence of the improving quality of Wessex instruments speaks for itself. Thank you Jonathan.
