*Sold* Miraphone 191 BBb 5v gold brass with gig bag
** Sold **
I'm selling my Miraphone 191 BBb 5v gold brass with gig bag. $5995 plus shipping, reasonable offers will be considered.
Also, I'm open to trades for 5/4 or 6/4 BBb horns, preferably rotary.
This is considered a large 4/4 or smaller 5/4 horn. Your choice.
Key: BBb
Size: 5/4
Bore: .835-inch
Bell: 18.5-inch
5 rotary valves, gold brass.
Condition is very good with some light to moderate scratching and dings here and there, the biggest dings being about the size of my thumbprint. The biggest and most severe ding is on the bottom bow guard. most big tubas pick up a dent or ding in this area at some point in their life. The world-renowned tech at the shop where I bought this tuba told me it was not worth pulling the bottom bow to pull this out, the metal is just too thick here to do it any other way. I would tend to agree with him. I actually forgot about this ding until I was taking pictures for this ad.

Gig bag is a Protec Platinum series. This bag is almost a glove fit for the 191 and a definite step up in quality and looks from the gold series.
I bought this tuba in nearly new condition last year from a very reputable east coast music shop that sells a lot of tubas.
In my never-ending quest for my perfect tuba, I realized that I prefer the taller wrap horns versus the compact wrap horns.
The tuba is located in Tucson, Arizona. Shipping will be only to the CONUS by Greyhound.
I will drive a few hours away from Tucson to meet a prepaid buyer if needed.

I have one of these and really do like it a lot (I’ve never played a 496 Hagen and would like to, but for me, the 191 is a great horn). GLWS!

Thanks guys,
My section mates, who are avowed equipment junkies, were in awe of this horn and what it can do. If you're looking for a 191 or similar beefy compact wrap horn, it doesn't get much better than this, especially considering they now retail for almost twice what I'm asking.

I was just lamenting that I never see these horns come up for sale. I guess I should consider myself lucky that my car decided to quit on me before this was posted....
PLEASE someone buy this man's horn before I do something silly like trying to justify riding my bike the 15 miles to work each day!

^ If your cost to buy this tuba is a few hours per day on the bike... in southern Minnesota... in the spring/summer... doesn't sound like a bad deal if you ask me.

Very NIce , I have an older version of this BBbb made in the early 80's I believe. It has a 19.5" bell and is Considered a Kaiser Model due to its longer bell.
GReat Player with a Massive Organ like tone. My 5th Valve is pitched in 2 Whole Steps or Gb. Ironically ,mine has no model number on it .I was told it was a model 191 or 192. MIne has the "MIRAFONE " engraving
I did have to have some tubing added to as it played quite sharp as did my BBbbb Mirafone Contrabass Trombone.
These don't come up for sale very often.
Best of Luck on your sale
