Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Those old nickel-silver horns are prone to cracks, but this one looks remarkably free of them. The 19th-century tribute band I played in had a nickel-silver Lehnert Eb contrabass saxhorn that I played for a couple of years. It had cracks all over it. Even so, it had a surprisingly deep, strong, resonant tone and could hold its own with much larger modern tubas. Also, it was nicely in tune. The false-tone and pedal registers were excellent. I do miss that horn . . .

yeah...I caught a break today. 8)

I'm really not interested in reenactments (too much time/money/waiting/heat/bugs/noise/pointlessness)...and my friends who are (who also are fine brass musicians) are crazy-wealthy and own zillion-dollar genuine CSA cannons/swords/etc...so they wouldn't be interested in being in a reenactment band, when they have a chance to fire off their artillery. (btw...I've been w-a-y out in the country with them, and helped them actually fire cannonballs (not just gunpowder) out of their cannons. It's MUCH different (cannon carriage rolls back several feet, rather than not-all-all), it's MUCH louder, and then there's the sight/sound of the cannonball disappearing thousands of feet off in the distance... 8)
 Could you imagine having been at an actual battle...?? ' horrifying...

If/when I get this thing rockin', I'll likely have my fun with it for a bit, and then see who really wants/"needs" it.

Years back, we played...and got paid...to provide music on CW horns for a battle of Yanks and Rebs reenactors meeting at a museum's field. We were in a gazebo in the middle of the battle, and it had a yellow jacket nest on top....the bees did not take too kindly to the noise.....thank goodness for ear plugs....
