Interesting C tuba

Post by gionvil »

I came across pictures of this tuba on the page of a Czech repair shop, and I thought about sharing it. it is a Josef Lidl 6 valves in C. Can it be some sort of French tuba or is just a weird configuration for a 6 valve contrabass?

I would say that It is a French Tuba due It's size in comparison to that Kaiser BBb (see Facebook Page)

It looks like a French C, but if you compare the dimensions I am not sure. For a French C it looks too big. Compared with the Kaiser it seems to be something between 26" and 30" tall, for that size it should look more transparent being in high C. Most French C are not taller than 22 or 23" and still you can look through them. From the guessed length of the right hand valve tubing and the dimension relation between valves and tubing I think it is more likely in F or Eb instead of C.

It's a CC-Tuba built in French C-Tuba form.

Definitely not a French tuba.

As Berliner Tuba says, it may be a CC tuba but I think it is also probable that it is in BBb. Cousenon made a BBb with a 3+3 configuration, not this horn.

Main tubing follows the outside branches for a full trip around the horn. This is no tuba in single C French tuba.
