For sale - Very nice BBb 4-valve piston Marzan. Made by Boehm and Meinl in the mid-1970's. I consider it a large 4/4 or modest sized 5/4. Big sound that I think is mid-way between "German" and "American"
BBb Marzans are not often re-sold because they exhibit excellent intonation with little need for slide pulling. Old world craftsmanship. This Marzan was overhauled and bought from Dan Schultz. Raw brass. Comes with a Wessex gig bag.
I'll initially only consider buyers who do not require shipping. Please don't contact me if you are not a dedicated buyer. Location is near La Crosse Wisconsin and I will drive up to two hours to rendezvous with a buyer. I'm regretfully selling this because I'm now old and require small tubas $3,500

This might sound strange but is it possible to get a picture of this horn being held by someone? Possible in the seated / playing position. Like you, I’m old (er) and am looking for horns that are not too large. Having never seen or played one of these, I cannot gage it’s size unless it is context to something known (a Miraphone 186 or a Hirsbrunner HB or a older King 2341 for example). Would that be possible?

Total Height - 37" Height to leadpipe - 25" Body width (at bow ferrules) - 18" Bell diameter - 19" Weight - 21.5 pounds
Photos of someone holding it could be deceiving based on the size of the person and camera angle. Rick Dennys page https://www.rickdenney.com/tubas_compared.htm" target="_blank gives a multitude of tuba size comparison photos. His reference tuba is a York Master (made by Boehm and Meinl) and this Marzan is similar but 2" shorter, the bell is 1" smaller, and the throat is a bit bigger.
If you remain an interested buyer feel free to personal message (PM) me. We can exchange phone numbers and have detailed discussions.
