Re: Piccolo part for Stars and StripesWhich tune? (You listed two.) I am assuming you mean Stars and Stripes and not the Stars Spangled Banner, which is what you have listed in the body of you post.
Soft soldering outdoors in a heavy wind sucks. There. I said it.
Re: Piccolo part for Stars and StripesThe marine band has posted all the parts of the march for free, you can google it. What I did was took the piccolo part and just transcribed it to the tuba.

Re: Piccolo part for Stars and StripesWorked for me! By the way, why the name DiveBomber? I'm a bit of an airplane nerd, so I'm curious...

Re: Piccolo part for Stars and StripesYour signature says ______________ Symphony Orchestra...
Do you need it in G, then...or are you playing it with a band (A-flat) ? For the past two decades (as - in the distant past - I would consent to doing it), every time some community band has offered me some little honorarium to sit in with them at some patriotic concert (as their tuba players all went on summer vacations), I've refused requests to go up front and play the piccolo solo on that piece: > It's a piccolo solo. Give the piccolo players their due (as flute/piccolo players really aren't featured, much, in wind band music...and even in symphony orchestras, it's THEIR solo). > The "tuba playing the piccolo solo schtick" is a tired joke that never was funny, and one that the audience/crowd/patrons probably won't "get". > If it's a brass quintet reduction...go for it. ![]()

Yes, much like the "bears balancing on a tightrope" act. Bears are pretty nimble and are known to be nimble but the humor comes from the anticipation that the bear will goof up and fall off the tightrope. Same with tuba on piccolo part. It's not so difficult for a tuba player to do but oh, so funny, if the tuba player screws it up. I don't think so. Homey Don't Play That.
Re: Piccolo part for Stars and Stripes
The scary part, for me, is that after all these years of griping about sharp-keyed marches, the orchestra version in D (not G) is starting to look more natural than the Ab. I guess I need to play in more bands. Mark Wiseman
Re: Piccolo part for Stars and StripesThe D/G version is easier on a C tuba than the Eb/Ab version is on a Bb tuba...certainly if jackassing the piccolo solo.
Originally, wind bandsmen played Db piccolos, and this solo (sounding in A-flat) WAS in G for the piccolo players. ...ok...and my end-of-post google search found a page that seems to concur: https://bandestration.com/tag/d-flat-piccolo/

Yes, the first strain (the only part that offers any sort of technical challenge in the tuba part) is easier in D on a C tuba than it is in Eb on a Bb tuba.
