Cerveny ABB 683

Post by Jstdad1988 »

I have a Cerveny ABB 683 tuba that needs to be played. I cannot find any information about this horn online other than I know it is a BBb. Also cannot find a serial #. Lead Pipe has "Made in Czechsolvakia" stamped on it.

The horn is in "Average" visual condition with some dents on outer tubing and a couple blemishes on the finish. All of the valves work and the main tuning slide operates. The others worked when I bought it but it has been sitting for a while.

Looking for more info about when it was made, and what it is worth.

Serial number is stamped on the lever bridge.

There is one listed for sale here: https://gottfried.dk/en/tuba-741/cerven ... 3471-p8878" target="_blank

I would guess it's probably similar to the CBB 683 that Cerveny makes now. ABB is usually an Amati model number prefix, from what I can see.

Compact, somewhat large bore BBb? Should be worth something to someone.

I had one of these. Used I got $2500 for it. Big dark sound. Loved the horn, just didn't play it enough.
