DIY case or other idea

Post by Lebowitz »

Hey all. I have the Schiller Bb with the detachable bells and was curious about either using a large Samsonite to transport the body with another for the bell or something similar. The case provided is good, but takes up tons of room in my GMC Terrain (will not fit in the back, have to put in back seat). Now, without me going out and buying a larger SUV, I am looking for ideas and thought you fine people would have suggestions. I'm not a huge fan of gig bags. Thanks

I don't see why that wouldn't work for car transport, so long as you padded it. Maybe put some egg crate foam under and on top, and between any loose parts (like detachable bells), wrap in a wool blanket. I put my monster Eb in my spare spinning wheel bag, but that is actually larger than the average gig bag and my Bb tuba case. I've been asked if I'm carrying hockey equipment. No, just a spinning wheel. (Or tuba)
