Need some opinions on a horn.
I am in the market for a new CC horn for this coming school year. Looking to buy in September/ October and have about 4500 bucks to work with. I found a new MW 32 for sale right in my price range. Can anybody tell me anything decent about this horn. I play a Cervany 601 and need something a bit bigger. Thanks for your help. Tim

I have an older Meinl-Weston 32 that I've had since the late 80's. From what I was told, it was made some time in the early 60's. It's a model that I don't see a lot or hear people talking about a lot. I don't know why.
I sometimes think I want something trendier like many of the new models of horns people routinely talk about on TubeNet. The one thing I know is that while I'm probably not as good of a player as many of the people who post here, I do routinely get compliments on my sound, mostly from people who play other kinds of instruments.
The low range on mine can tend to be a little stuffy. I understand that this has been improved on more recent versions of this model. For me, using a Kellyberg mouthpiece has done a lot to help open up the low range. I'm sure there's probably somebody out there who doesn't like using that combination, but it's what works for me.
Intonation is pretty good. I do have to pull out the 1st valve slide a bit on some notes, mostly F's.
As I understand, Warren Deck won his audition to the NY Philharmonic with a MW 32.
