I am buying a house. Got a great interest rate and as long as the inspection goes well, we should be moving sometime before the end of April. I'm very happy at the prospect of being able to practice without a practice mute.

Because most rehearsals/gigs are cancelled or postponed, I have lots of free time. I've done a little house painting and cleaning where needed. Get to hang out more with my cat. But the best news is that I got an email notifying me that I FINALLY paid off my federal student loan I'm too lazy to actually practice (no rehearsals or gigs now --> no incentive to practice now). Maybe this week I will motivate myself to practice on tuba or sousa

Here in Ohio, the governor has been having press conferences every day at 2:00PM. On Monday morning I went to the gym. At 2:00PM Monday, the governor announced that gyms would close at the end of the day. On Wednesday morning, I got my hair cut. At 2:00PM Wednesday, the governor announced that barber shops and hair salons would close at the end of the day. This morning (Thursday), I took my car to my local garage for some work. At 2:00PM Thursday, the governor said nothing about auto repair shops.

Maybe, just maybe, I am not personally responsible for the constriction of the state’s economy.

My condo is located next to a brewery and next to a hospital. Both are open for business, and both offer curbside pickup.

Had an hour-long family group video chat this evening where everyone got caught up on what's going on with everyone else. My niece set it up with 'Zoom' (which is free), and it worked very well connecting family in Lincoln, Ames IA, Alliance NE, and Denver. There were eight boxes (not windows) open and we had a great time. It was a nice break from all of the media-driven angst, and we plan to do it again next week when hopefully more can join in.

Hi all. Jerry, we did the same last night - a family conference call using Zoom. My daughter has a paid subscription. Our youngest son and his fiancee live in Fairfax, VA, and the others all live nearby. We could easily see the local kids and families, but we’re trying to do the social distancing thing. It was great, as we had 4 windows open and it was almost like we were together for a family gathering. Maybe Skype and FaceTime could to the same thing. I don’t know about opening several call windows simultaneously, though. I recommend this.

Perhaps I misspoke about the 'windows'. They were boxes and all on one page, not in separate tabs. With Zoom, when someone talks their box lights up with a green border which helps prevent 'collisions'.

The sun was shining today, and since I haven't left the house since my workplace shut down on the 16th, I went for a spin.

The A&W in Frankfurt, MI has its drive-in OPEN(!). I should've stopped and grabbed a Papa Burger and onion rings.

The last time I've actually been to the drive-in part of an A&W was back around 1995, at the Harvey, MI location--which is still going. My home town had an A&W drive-in well into the 2000s. Back in the '70s, A&W was everywhere around Michigan's Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin.

I brought my dad over some homemade meals and got him set up with Google Hangouts on his iPad, so that we can communicate via video if needed.

My wife and I make good Colvid-19 buddies, the yard is fenced for the dogs and we watch Emma on demand last night. There is still almost a case of wine under the stairs.

Plus my order of music wire arrived from Granger, so I can continue my quest of making new springs for the rotary. My last batch were good initially, but I left them to temper to long at to high a heat, so they got soft.

Crud or not, it's still early spring in Minnesota. Which means the first sunny and non-freezing days of the year.

We packed up a picnic lunch, headed to a lake 20 miles away, and walked some trails around the lake with the kids. It was great for everyone.

Plenty of people out and about, but nowhere near crowded. Everyone was in a good mood and eager to say hi. From a distance.

I'm grateful to live in a city/metro area with a really nice public trail system. I don't use it as much as I could, but it's nice that it's there and waiting for me when I'm ready for it!

I finally installed nylon valve guides on my 19-teens Martin Eb. Greatly reduced the "clackiness". I found a supplier that could sell me #2-56 unslotted screws without having to get a hundred of them. I didn't take long to trim them to fit , so if they don't last long, it will be easy to re-do.

Out of curiosity, on what day does she celebrate her birthday? My grandfather was born on February 29, but he celebrated it on February 28 (as do most, I suspect) - I always thought this wasn't accurate, because in non-leap years, March 1 would be in the actual place where Feb 29 would have occured........?

Like you say, March 1st makes more sense because if it hadn’t been a leap year that’s the date you would have been born. But we have a nephew with a March 1 birthday so that day has been claimed for 30 yrs now. Generally we pick a weekend after February 28 on non-leap years but there is no hard and fast rule.

Exactly 12 midnight on February 28/March 1? A point in time with no duration?

To a leap-year-born person, non leap years are of lesser concern.

The virus actually made my life much easier here in the Czech republic – my lifestyle is now officially everyone's lifestyle, I am comfortably working from home and cleaning up several parts of my house in the spare time. Most of my colleagues appear to be happy about spending more time with their families rather than commuting and being whole day with random strangers, as well.

Aaaand... I play my new (to me) Willson rotary F I bought two months ago! Now that I'm thinking about it, perhaps I might start a separate thread with pictures, etc., as I haven't seen many of these on tubenet.
