I like the satin silver finish. In high school we had satin silver bodies with the inside of the bell being polished. I liked the look very much.

Chartreuse with orange and green pinstriping ... and a crystal purple Kellyberg, of course!

You left off satin gold with bright gold trim and bell. That is my favorite look. I think that whatever finish you use on a brass sousaphone has very little to do with how it plays.

I think the Satin Silver with the polished bell looks good, my school used the laquered brass and it looked awesome with our red uniforms. although if I owned my own I have to go with Lew's gold one.

Raw brass, tarnished to a dark brown finish but bright-brass inside the bell.

My son kept his beginning euphonium (Olds curved-bell) like this...looked very cool!

One of the coolest combinations I've seen was satin silver with a gold wash bell. I've also dug shiny silver with the gold bell.

I had used a gold-colored all-plastic sousaphone, too. I couldn't tell if the pistons themselves were plastic because the valve tops were stuck. Not saying that I liked it, though.. lol

Mine is brown (unlaq) with a rose brass bell,
now that's sexy!

Then people would keep walking into it; it might be prone to dents, or cause them to knock you over!

what about those old dirty fiberglass horns at school held together with duct tape? Doesn't look or play the best...but it has character!

Well, at least your marching would always look clean. And you could sneak your sousaphone in with you on Mission: Impossible-type raids on museums and corporate headquarterseses and stuff. Plus, no need to polish. Overall, I think it would be a positive thing.

Yep, you got that right! I kinda like the look of my 1927 Conn 38K satin gold sousaphone.
