This question is bothering me even though it has no bearing on my life whatsoever.
Yes, I know Tuba City is not named after a musical instrument. But I'm sure they have bands or something. So... how many tubas ARE there in Tuba City?

Re: Random: How many tubas in Tuba City?
Not much going on in Tuba City. Houses are small as is the population, and someone practicing tuba could probably be heard by a large percentage of the population. Music is from a much different cultural tradition, ceremonial with a lot of religious significant but without western instruments (other than the same pop music everyone else listens to, of course). There is no band director (or even music teacher) at the high school. I'm thinking the most likely answer to the question at hand is: Zero.
Same for rhumbas.
Except when a bunch of anglos show up to do a TubaChristmas there.

Re: Random: How many tubas in Tuba City?
My family and I went through Tuba City a few years ago. I didn't bring up the fact that I play the tuba, pretty sure no one was interested. Didn't see one tuba, or a picture/statue/likeness of a "western" tuba.
If you go, be sure to stop at the Trading Post which also contains a small but very interesting museum of the WWII Navajo Code Talkers.
Cheers,
JC

On the tuba, only down in cuba.
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?
