Green tuba transportation

We where out playing for the first time in two month.

Ten of us brassmaniacs from Frederiksberg Brass Band where assembled i the court of an elderly care home, playing melodies from the past for the inhabitants sitting at their verandas and listening and clapping much.

It was great fun, and I decided to take my bike to the venue. What a lovely day it was .. it was soooo green !!!!

It was a private setting, we followed the rules: two meters apart, max ten people, outdoors. The publicum was ten to thirty meters away, each on their own porch or balcony. But brass carries really well in an inner court...

Were it that I lived/worked within a low-crime metro area, I'd be stealing those pictures and getting out my welding torch.

I do live in a low crime area, most of entire Denmark is low crime, due to heavy weapon restrictions, good social politics, good public healthcare and support for unemployed, good free schooling and universities, and crazy high income taxes. I pay my taxes with a smile whenever I bike home by night through the middle of Copenhagen.

It could be better though, bike theft is something you have to be aware of, and the last years of liberal politics and religion in public help has left some people on the street without much hope of improvement for their life.

Well no country is perfect, but we are pretty well off here in DK.

But that is another topic not to be persued here ...

See the oversized Miniball linkage going to the fork of the forweel? That's the steering pushrod from the handlebars. The bike carries up to 180 kg including driver, which in my case gives a cargo capacity of almost 120 kg. Internal gearshift with 11 gears, and a belt drive make it almost maintenance free through winter time too. I can easily run at a speed of 25 km/h on the flat street, but uphill costs really power and speed. Welded of aluminium, it's about 24 kg heavy, but I accelerate fine due to small gearing in the lowest gears. Actually it's great fun to ride.

So you could track it down, find it unlocked, and cut it up into scrap?

Does anyone there use trailers? It looks to me like your load costs you some visibility.

The OP's picture reminds me of when I was in 6th and 7th grade band playing trumpet, before switching to souzy in 9th grade. I lived a short bike ride from the school, and those in 6th grade up were allowed to ride bikes to school. I had a King trumpet in the traditional hard case covered in black vinyl that had a lot of space under the "shelf" that cradled the trumpet. So I would put all my homework in the case, prop the case up between the handlebars of my Otasco Scorpion (copy of a Schwinn) (the one on the left in the attached ad) and ride. In 8th grade I had to go across town to school, and that was the end of riding my bicycle to school.

I was trying to save up $30 for the cheapest Sears Schwinn knock-off, and - on my birthday - my Dad (Sears employee) surprised me with this (the fanciest one)...probably a repo or return, but it looked brand-new.

not my actual bike, but it had a whole bunch of the same accessories crap on it, and - over time - more.

I had a red Columbia bike with a banana seat and a tall sissy bar (remember those?)

My big add-ons were a wheel mounted odometer and a wheel-powered headlamp.

Man, I loved that bike - rode it everywhere.....

If I were to make up a rig like the OP, I'd get a big velocipede (or adult tricycle) and fabricate an oversized basket for the rear. That would be peddling in style.....

My actual bike (as pictured) had a sissy bar and a wheelie skate on the back...odometer, generator lights, rear-view mirror...totally pimped

When I was a kid, we used them year round, even in the coldest weather - - - that was freedom!

Nope. Not any more after it tripped over in a turn for the second time. With the euph sailing over the street, almost being run down by a car. A two wheeled cargo bike is a much better option, as the cargo is always in centered balance.

Visibility is fine, mynose is higher than the cargo. No sweat.

Thanks ! Adult tricycles are awfully wide in wheel base, and do not give space for overtaking bikes on the in times narrow bike lanes. A two wheeled cargo bike is much more nice to ride. ...

They do out by me. Adults, too. One thing the Madison area prides itself on is being bike-friendly.
