Plau Tuba Concerto

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Plau tuba concerto. I have the recording of it and enjoy it a great deal but the $50 price is a bit steep. I'm just looking for some insight into the piece before I buy it. Also, I'm curious if the string parts are avalible anywhere.

Velvet Brown performed this at the Big Brass Bash on Saturday. I liked it. It was very melodic.
