Overall, I am quite happy with this horn! I tested it with a Bach 6.5 AL and then a Douglas Yeo Replica. It's quite in tune with itself throughout the range, at least to my ears, but you just have to pull the first slide out a little bit. I played a couple tuba excerpts with the Yeo piece, and it sounds kind of like a tuba, not including my lack of stability down there. With the Bach you can get quite a sweet sound, especially when playing up high, such as the Romanza from Vaughan Williams' Tuba Concerto. I believe it is a Yamaha copy, but I could be wrong. Man is this horn fun to play!

EDIT: I bought this used, so there are a few cosmetic dents, but I've already re oiled the valves and greased the slides, so it works like a dream!

It's 90% as good as any handmade euphonium, and I'd feel comfortable using it in a professional situation.

I had one, or the Wessex equivalent Dolce, and I liked it very much. I have since upgraded, however, to the Wessex Festivo, which is the four-in-front version, primarily for ergonomic reasons. I have to say, I like it better. My wife likes the sound of the euphonium for some reason, and dislikes both trombone and tuba (or at least my playing). After a year or two, there is some lacquer coming off in high contact areas, but the valves are nice and the slides are decent, and the soldering is very good.

The silver plating is quite nice, and from my inspection, I haven't seen any wear off. I can see why she likes euphonium, but I don't get her not liking trombone and tuba. To each their own, I suppose.
