The Eastman 836 is a little smaller than the Nirschl York I used to own. Note that the Nirschl horns all seem to be a little different, in some cases a lot different in build. I compared my Nirschl to four others and none of them were the same in build. They aren't even exact copies of each other, so hard to see how they are an accurate copy of the Chicago York. Your mileage will vary a lot with those horns. I have played some really great ones (like the one Scott Choate is selling) and I've played on some not so great ones.

I've compared my Eastman 836 to a bunch of others and they are built in a much more consistent fashion, and the build quality is way better. They have also played very consistently. My Eastman is also a little lighter than my Nirschl was.

There is a gold brass option now for the Eastman, and I think they also moved to a harder brass formulation from the early units. Matt Walters at Dillon can tell you exactly what is up with those horns, and he gives them a good inspection before they go out the door.

Good god, has everyone with any humor in their soul already left this forum? I think we all know the legendary Matt Walters can handle mild tongue in cheek teasing. He also seems to have zero issue encountering thoughts he disagrees with. After all, isn't that something competent adults are expected to do?
