Clean What You're Selling

Post by bgozdowski »

I've noticed a lot of mouthpieces going for sale recently. I've been exploring F tuba mouthpieces, so I've bought a couple over the last few months. I'm not calling anyone out here, but the last two mouthpieces I bought were pretty dirty. As in haven't been cleaned in quite some time. Gunk in the shank and even the bowl. I don't mind so much the tarnish, as even clean mouthpieces tend to tarnish if left on the shelf unused, or unpolished. But how hard is it to clean a mouthpiece? Especially right now. Maybe not everyone has access to a shop with a chemical bath, or ultrasonic, but what you do have is dish soap and a brush.

Cleaned post up. Cleaning mouthpieces is a good idea before selling.

Tubas, too. Once, I bought a tuba and I was expecting it to be ready to go (I bought it from a well known player), and it was FILTHY! I went to play it and it stunk SO bad, I almost barfed. PLEASE clean your horns before selling them.
