I have really enjoyed this post, Wade. I am delighted that your finished product is one you're happy with, and that it sounds great.

Wade,
Thanks for the clear pictures of your 5th valve linkage, and this whole thread in general - they are very edifying! I have learned quite a bit from you -

You PM'd him instead of email?
Sorry, I couldn't resist that dig.

Why is this thread so weird? It's like half of it is missing. It doesn't make any sense.

A few months ago there was a big ban wave and some people deleted all of their posts and left because of the ban wave. Thus, the half-broken threads.

Re: Rebuilding the BAT (Long)
Easy Mac, you may want to find the members who used to post here regularly at a different forum for tubists. Googling the words "tuba" and "forum" will surely help you find a way. Quite a few members left (or were banned) tubenet and their, often rather insightful, posts over the what, 15 years, are now gone, apparently forever.
I have no idea why there is barely any information about all this on tubenet, as I do believe the presence of these half-empty threads should be at least explained by the current moderation team, so that newer members know what happened. The performance of the new moderators is in fact nothing short of shameful – having done no work at all trying to mend the gaps in the forum and not even giving an explanation for everyone, including new or irregular members, to read.

Re: Rebuilding the BAT (Long)
They asked to have accounts deleted, and posts removed, we no longer do that due to this very fact. Sorry you think it's been shameful. I'll do my best to improve.

Re: Rebuilding the BAT (Long)
This is off the BAT topic, but since it's been brought up here...there is nothing on the Internet that is private in a public forum and generally things cannot be taken back and erased. I'm sure all the things that were removed could be found on the Wayback machine, altho' it would be a chore. I think it should be understood by participants that they are contributing to public knowledge and dialogs and, except for personal attacks and offensive posts, do not have the right to just ask for their rubber ducky back to take home. I looked to see who went off in a snit and it was predictably who I thought it would be in at least one case. Glad that tubenet has decided not to delete retiring members' posts any more.
