Besson 995 versatility?

Post by Arthur plays tuba »

I've seen a Besson 995 CC in the exhibition of the WASBE Singapore. I've tried the tuba for 20 mins and thought that the intonation and the feel was fantastic. Unluckily, the sales don't allow me to play it loud (maybe because of those glass windows  )
I'm searching an inexpensive all-around CC for my friend. I think the Besson is good for solo and quintet, but I can't try out how loud it can sound. Anyone here played this horn in an orchestra? Can the tuba sound like a 5/4 like the PT6?
Also, what would you choose if you have a limited budget (like $8000) to buy a new 4/4 CC horn?

Thanks,
Arthur

I just bought one last week and although I havent taken delivery on it I have played a few of them and I have always been pleased. They can fill a concert hall very well with a deep dark sound and if you want a powerful low register then it definately does the trick.

Also, how is Besson's quality control? I live in Hong Kong, and I can't try horns before I buy.
