Wessex Viverna BBb silver lower price (Sold)

Post by Tommckamey »

Nearly perfect condition 5 valve BBb contrabass tuba hand-made from sheet brass. If you can find the little ding on the back of the bottom bow (3rd photo) that’s the biggest blemish on this horn. Wessex lists it as a 4/4, but it’s every bit of 5/4 in my assessment. Intonation is great, SS valves fly, plays even and open with a big dark tone. Silver plating is 100%. It’s a great horn.

I’m wanting to add an F tuba to my collection, and I’m more fond of my compensating BBb, so this one’s for sale. Comes with a wheeled hard case. I’m in the Chicago are, and willing to drive a couple of hours for a meet-up if necessary, or can ship via. Greyhound to nearly any where in conusa pretty reasonably. Asking $4,000.00.

Bump. Santa thinks someone surely needs a shiny silver tuba for Christmas.

I checked out your pictures. I have a Wyvern (basically the same horn in CC). I can see in one of the pictures you have a pad glued to the horn where it sits on your leg. I have been looking for something like this for quite some time and I guess I just lack the creativity or don't frequent stores that sell anything like that. Could you tell me what it is, how you made it, or where I can buy one? Thanks in advance.

I’ve owned a 5/4 Kalison F since 2006. I am not the original owner so not sure of exact age. Dent free but may be a tiny nic or two on bottom bow. I’d give it about 98% cosmetically perfect. Needs a good polishing. I’ve recently considered making the switch back to a contrabass. Just throwing it out there if you were interested in a trade.

Sorry for the late reply, in case you’re still interested I got the idea watching Chris Olka videos, I found some self adhesive 1/4” (I think) neoprene pads on Amazon. I think they were like 4x6” rectangles. I just trimmed the ends to a oval shape, with a pair of scissors and stuck them on my horns. Sure helps prevent them slipping between your legs while in your lap!
