Forum rules
This forum is for buying or selling your personal equipment. Sponsored selling is allowed as well. All ads are required to have the following information: Price (even for trades), brand, model, and location (City and State, for instruments, not accessories). It is acceptable to link to an external ad if you are promoting a sale of your personal equipment. No Ebay auctions, but "Buy It Now" listings are fine. Photos are HIGHLY suggested as well, and may be hosted on Google Drive, or elsewhere. If you see an ad that does not meet these criteria, please report it.
Hi. I'm trying to pass on this gorgeous old beast of helicon, made in Brno by Karl Goll, an instrument maker who was active from the 1890s through the Second World War (Goll himself seems to have passed in 1938, though the shop was turning out instruments through 1945). I bought it off German eBay like ten years ago and I love it, but I need to make room in my little apartment for a new (old) Miraphone. Here's the deets:
It plays... eh, not great, but it plays. It's leaky, as you'd expect of an old (~90-100 years) rotary horn, though heavy oil helps with this, but it can be tricky to land a note. Josh Landress kindly worked on it some a while back. It's in BBb.
I mean, just look at this gorgeous old thing with the krantz and the patina and think of how cool you'd look playing it in your Balkan/Oktoberfest/klezmer band (that was the allure for me!).
Comes with an incredible custom-made Altieri gig bag in hot pink and cow print! I wish Altieri were still making stuff like this (they're apparently retooling their tuba case offerings?).
I'm asking $800. Buyer must pick it up in Manhattan. Sorry, but I don't dare ship this beast! Road trip?
