I have recently purchased a Gronitz PCK and in order to finance that, I must sell my 6/4 Holton.

The Holton is an excellent tuba that I have used for many, many situations quite successfully. You may have heard me play it in the Cincinnati, Knoxville, Lebanon, Middletown, or Springfield Symphony Orchestras.

I used it for the bottom part in "All the King's Tubas" tuba quartet (we had regular gigs at King's Island and the Cincinnati Zoo as well as a couple of guest artist slots) and the "fourTE" tuba quartet (we gave a recital down at SERTEC this year).

I've used it for solo recitals, tuba quartets, brass quintets, bands, orchestras, polka, dixie, country, jazz, and blues

Sorry, I'm getting a little long winded. I've really enjoyed this horn for a long time, but my teacher wants me on this Gronitz and, I must admit, it is a very, very nice horn.

Normal things with a Holton. G in the staff should be played 1-3 as it is flat open. Wonderful big orchestral sound. Quite flexible/nimble.

Hey, I forgot to mention:

4 pistons + 1 rotor (flat whole step)

some dents but over all in very good condition (the silver plate is pretty worn, though)

Matt Walters at Dillon did some work on it in '03 that improved it (made a new slide, redid the valve stems for proper porting)

asking $7100 including gig bag

The Chicago Symphony Brass Quintet was under contract with Holton, so they made what I believe is the first "copy" of Jacobs' York

This is a Bob Rusk cut Holton, so yes, originally a BBb.

I've had a rough time dealing with UPS since the horn got damaged in shipping. I just recieved it back today (nearly six months later).

The bell has been professionally fixed, but there are scars.

New asking price is $6,800

I'd love it if you would come try the horn out in Knoxville. . . I will not ship UPS again. Ever.
