York Factory CC - Original B&S GR41

Post by Peach »

For sale: 1937 York CC (uncut).
Two bells (19 & 23"), Three original cases plus new aluminium flight case.

This York is the Tuba B&S copied to make the GR41 (PT606P).
Some (romanticised!) details at Custom Music:
http://www.custommusiccorp.com/tubas/pt606p.html

This is a great, unique Tuba with a lot of history. If you've played a GR41 and liked it, you'll love this horn.

You'll see from the pictures that the York needs to be replated to bring it back to 'new' condition. The Tuba plays great and has been played professionally for much of its life. This is a real player - not just for the collector.

Serious enquiries EMail me for price and I'll answer any questions you may have.

Most people probably are ... which should improve the odds that whoever does buy this horn will understand and appreciate what they're getting, and will make good use of it. 8)

Because it's had a LOT of work done on it since then.

'Bloke' raised an interesting point in this thread about shiny horns. On Rick's site the York looks fabulous but was hiding a multitude of problems. These have been addressed but the horn now has some 'finish-issues'...

The York's previous owner and tuba-repair Guru, Mike Johnson, put in a lot of time, effort and £££ into getting the York up to modern playing standards.

It is now free from dings and plays very well!
