Soundproofing

Post by BB0405 »

I recently moved to a new apartment and my neighbor below me works from home. The tuba can bother her and I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions on effective soundproofing? I am not interested in buying a practice room to build.

You cannot soundproof a floor in a rental. However, she can add stuff to her ceiling, but that is not her responsibility.

I have always met with neighbors and set up a schedule that works for them. It is just that, with her working at home, your time to practice may be from like 5 to 10 at night.

Note that her stuff would have to be temporary and fully removable or she could lose her deposit. If she goes that way. You have the right to make noise in your home during certain hours, so soundproofing in her place would be her responsibility to pay for unless you are just a super neighbor. I would try to work out a schedule, tbh.

I rent time to practice in the mornings from a local music theater studio.
